My name is Jane Mary Stansfeld. I was born in 1945 in Nairobi Kenya a few days after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and Japan’s surrender . My parent’s British Army friends suggested that I ought to be named Victoria Japonica. Thankfully my dear parents didn’t oblige. Thereafter I spent my youth mostly in Durham in the north of England. By 1971 I was a registered architect living and working in London.

By 1974 I was living in Houston Texas married to Daniel Lee Hofer. We have two daughters (1979 and 1983) and in 2000 my architectural work took me to Austin, Texas where my husband and I still reside.
